TALKING SWEET BYE AND BYE
© Greg Keeler 1987
There'll Come a Revolution
In Salt Lake City, Utah, out on a construction sight,
A hippie walked up and asked for a job.
We figured he'd quit before night.
When evenin' rolled 'round, turned out we was right
When that hippie turned in his hard had,
Then he stepped off the ground and climbed up on top
Of a great big D-9 Cat.
Chorus:
"There'll come a revolution,"
Said that long-haired hippie dude,
But he was talkin' 'bout things like freedom and love,
And I was thinkin' bout the price of food.
"There'll come a revolution,"
Said that long-haired hippie freak,
As he rambled on about things bein' free.
Hell, I'd settle for things bein' cheap.
Several years later, I was watchin' TV.
When I saw that same hippie again,
But he spoke with more care and he'd cut off his hair,
And he'd shaved the beard off of his chin.
He was sellin' stereo speakers
With quadrophonic sound.
As I turned off my set, I just couldn't forget
What that hippie once said would come down.
