TRASH FISH

I Forgot
I am a man who used to feel
My righteous mission here was real.
I'd mount my soap box really pissed
And sing a protest song like this:
Save the mountains. Save the trees.
Protect the wildlife. Save the seas.
Feed the hungry. Help the poor.
Shelter the homeless. Stop the war.
But that was many years ago.
I knew not then what now I know.
Whether the truth was here or there,
I don't particularly care.
I'd just as soon they left a tree,
But if they don't, that's fine by me.
Some wolves or bears or buffalo
Would be quite nice, but what the fo.
I can't remember why I cared.
I can't remember why I dared.
I can't remember right or wrong
Or the next words to sing this song.
So I'll sort of make it up as I go.
I hope it rhymes, but maybe not.
If there's a point I do not know.
Maybe there was, but I forgot.
Forgot my front, forgot my rear.
I forgot why I'm standing here.
Where are my pants? Where is my shoe?
Where did I park? Who are you?
